U.S. named in persecution “Hall of Shame” report

International Christian Concern (ICC) has included Mexico, Russia and the United States as countries where persecution is on the rise in this “Hall of Shame” persecution report for 2016. These countries, the report states, are locations where religious freedom is declining so rapidly, it is considered a “cause for alarm.”

“While conditions in the U.S. are in no way comparable to other countries on the list, a certain segment of the culture and the courts seem to be intent on driving faith out of the public square,” said Jeff King ICC president. “There have been too many court cases with bad decisions to miss the clear trend line.”

This is the first time since the report began in 1995 that the U.S. has been noted on the report. The report is best known for naming countries that are the worst persecutors of Christians as well as countries that continually abuse religious liberty.
